RAW
                                                                By Andres Orozco
Raw is a photo-based art series that suggests that we are living in a world of our own creation. The artist used various lighting interventions to transform different spaces by reshaping the colors and textures into ethereal tableaus. In doing so, he transformed a built environment into an otherworldly space that recalls the aesthetics of early science-fiction cinematography.

Orozco’s exploration alters the everyday nature of functional architecture and common manufacturing materials creating an entirely new scene. The images make us conscious of our perceptual processes by asking us to consider how light and color change our experience of the mundane. This connects the work to the critical dialog around photography by pointing to the relationship between the medium and human perception. If light can completely reshape a space, then we can never experience the physical world objectively.
