With the help of Statskog, a bench should be built with wood that has an amount of 1 tonne of CO2 in it. 3 larch trees were given to us as the amount of wood we can use. 3D scanning the logs helped us calculating our options and through components of grasshopper, it was possible to reach the amount of 1 tonne comparably precise.
The design is a result of a limitation to modern building methods which led to the use of a robot arm for milling. The different logs could be milled very precisely with the specific shape. To connect the logs we designed small butterfly joints which we produced with a milling machine.
