OPINO, or "Operadora de Inmuebles del Oriente"
Real-Estate company/ Property Investments
Monterrey, Mexico

During the years 2010 and 2011, I collaborated in this great Real-Estate company developing projects concerning urban design and investment in properties. The company develops neighborhoods and districts by implanting the infrastructure necessary for dignified human activities. The company builds the streets inside the neighborhood, subdivides the property, takes care of every process, and implements services like water, electricity, drainage, telephone, and others depending on the usage that the properties will get.
After collaborating in the Marketing and Advertising department for some time (long enough for me to really get to know every project), I was introduced into Urban Planning. This is when the fun started.
Being involved in the processes and development of a project is much more complex than one thinks- or at least that I though.
I was able to learn- and contribute- about real estate development projects from the very beginning. From getting the site’s contour lines to designing accordingly to respect the way the water flows through the project to the processes and guidelines the city and district establish for a better functionality. From every agreement the company has to make with every dependency that provides services (water, light, etc) to the estimate value-and construction- of the actual streets inside the project.
My contribution- as little as it may have been in the beginning- helped speed up processes through my ideas, creativity and knowledge in technology.
I suggested implementing a system of communication improvement by providing certain people with tools necessary to automatically upload pictures in an easy and user-friendly way to a web-page which would only be accessible to their superiors, letting them know the daily situation in camp. The Web stores their daily activity, and permits superiors to have a daily summary of the work done.
In the beginning, I started collaborating in the Marketing department. Myself being responsible for every publication the company had in one of Mexico’s biggest newspaper: “El Norte”. The publications took place in the front cover of the “Real Estate” section as well as on the “Business” section.
Opino is a company with more than 15 years of experience in Real Estate and property-development, and currently has around 20 neighborhoods up-and-running, making it one of the biggest emerging real estate companies honing their craft.
