Context

Double Meanin is a fictional client that I made up for my logo creation challenge. With this endeavor I look to engage my creative skills and expertise in order to create new logos daily for fictional clients.

What is Double Meanin?

Double Meanin is a new book publishing and printing agency that develops riddles and puzzles for people of culture which are interested in challenging their minds with various exercises ranging from easy to extreme difficulty.

Challenge

Being the new player, Double Meanin would have to work its way up the food chain and maintain that position while keeping a consistent quality and premium feel. I had to create a powerful brand and convincing visual identity system that stands out from their competition.

Solution

I created a powerful, bold and energetic, but mindful identity that utilizes a modern approach to design







Logo insight

In order do convey an interesting message to the consumer I tried various ways of incorporating some kind of hidden message in the logo itself so I took the word "meaning" and flipped it upside down and I created a metaphor for a reflection in the water of the word "double"

I also evolved the apostrophe by combining it with 'd' for a visual replacement of the letter 'g' which is not in the name of the company.


Low scale logo

Although the normal version of the logo would be legible in small sizes, I wanted to play around with the composition of the logo and create a few smaller versions in case of need of a customized version.











Colors

The color palette that I chose for this identity is a powerful, strident and extremely contrasting one.






Tagline and word graphics

The tagline of this company is "better you". This gave me an opportunity to customize it and replace the word "you" with different words based on the message displayed.





Book design and mock-ups

For this showcase I created a book cover design using the simple yep bold type associated with the Double Meanin' branding identity.

The answer on the poster shown above is printed in clear and reflective ink, so in order to see the answer you would have to get closer to the posters and move around so the light reflects just right.

Also there is not answer to the joke on the right, it's not an error.
