Canned gourmet of Galicia´s Atlantic coast with all the flavor of the northwest of Spain.
For their cans of mussels I´ve chose to be inspired by the old Way of Saint James, which millions of pilgrims continue to travel a thousand years later on a spiritual journey from Europe to finish at Finisterre, the end of the medieval world. A road that marks in the town of Sarria the last hundred kilometers to the tomb of the apostle Saint James, full of legends –such as the Holy Grail that inspired the Wagner´s Parsifal or the Way itself, which since ancient times is associated with squares of Goose´s Game –. Four illustrations that tells part of the history of that stage.

Para sus latas de mejillones elegí inspirarme en el antiguo Camino de Santiago, que millones de peregrinos siguen transitando mil años después en un viaje espiritual desde Europa para terminar en el Finisterre, el fin del mundo medieval. Un camino que marca en la villa de Sarria los últimos cien kilómetros hasta la tumba del apóstol Santiago, plagado de leyendas como la del Santo Grial que inspiró el Parsifal de Wagner o el propio Camino, asociado a las casillas del Juego de la Oca.

The Shell, one of the most recognizable symbols of the pilgrim. This illustration refers to Boticelli painting "Birth of Venus". Venus, the patron goddess of the pilgrims who went towards west, is symbolized by a scallop shell and fertile waters from where the famous landmark of 100 km arises. Two sticks crossed over the landmark mean to represent the union between past and future of the Way.
Stage of legends and fog, of groves and chestnuts... Prongs that protect chestnuts serves as context for a romanesque chalice preserved in O Cebreiro and which tradition associates to the Holy Grial of King Arthur, which hidden in clouds and mist, appears also in Codex Calixtinus. This Grial not only did it end up on the coat of arms of Galicia but it also inspired the famous Wagner´s Opera, Parsifal.
This image represent the arrival to Santiago like door which welcomes pilgrims, showing them the Barroque towers of his catedral, framed by the main symbols of pilgrimage:
The sarcophagus of Saint James, pointing to the star that allowed to find him. In the middle, one of the most representative objects of Compostela, the Botafumeiro, a huge and unique incense burner, made in the Middle Ages to purify the air inside the Cathedral.
And finally the end of the Way, Finisterra, the end of the Medieval world. The discovery of Templar origin of "Goose´s Game" showed a symbol associated with the Way, in which the last square 63 represented by a goose would be Finisterra, and not Santiago de Compostela.
It´s in this place where pilgrim burns his boots, and sets off for the return after seeing the Atlantic form the lighthouse which sends 3 beams of light, a symbol associated to the foot of goose, and which can be seen in centenary rocks along the way.
