A request was made to develop an education brochure, to give to children on their field trip excursion to the Olympion cinema in Thessaloniki's city centre. The idea was to find a way to show the floor plan of the cinema in a dramatic, unique and novel way.
After a visit to the cinema, during a recy trip, all the rooms of importance were explored and noted. After some consideration, it was decided to try an exploded cut away, that would show the entire floor structure. Keeping it as close as possible to the original layout.
After some working out a rough design was made, with a clever fish-eye look to the plan. After the drawing was OK'ed the it was carefully transformed in illustrator. Several cartoon figures were created by a colleague, and we even found space to have us sitting in the upper floor as a camio.
Once the map was completed, the feel of the design was continued on, using cartoons and raised photos on the front side. This was the instructional aspect and has some simple desktop publishing incorporated.
