Annum Magazine U of T, Faculty of Engineering

Annum Magazine
U of T, Dept. of ECE

The University of Toronto’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering publish an annual review that serves as both an annual report and a viewbook for potential students.
The piece also has a directory component that highlights their professors’ research projects.

The main objective of Annum is to highlight and celebrate the great work of their alumni. To separate the directory from the editorial and department features, the piece was
created as a recto-verso book (the back of the book flips and becomes the front of the directory whereas the two “books” meet in the middle). The directory was printed on
different paper stock to further separate the content and provide an easy way for the viewer to read through the research projects essentially, creating 2 books housed as 1 magazine. The new approach proved to be a great success receiving many accolades on its new format and concept driven photography.

Scope of work:
magazine redesign
creative development + design
photography + illustration art direction
production supervision
