The EUREKA! Design Blitz is an annual intensive interdisciplinary workshop involving juniors, seniors, and grad students from across the five School of Design disciplines at Rochester Institute of Technology. EUREKA! is open to all RIT students! The students work together in small teams to use design thinking and creativity to come up with strategies and concepts to address social issues.
Every year EUREKA! collaborates with various non-profit organizations in Rochester area, NY. Every year a unique branding style corresponds to the issue and to the organization with which EUREKA! cooperates this year.
In 2018 Eureka! collaborated with Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services (RRRS) to help facilitate social change and support local refugee community. The RRRS Mission: Collaborating to provide services and opportunities to ensure assimilation of refugees into our society by providing assistance as they strive to be self-sustaining neighbors while still maintaining their own cultural heritage.
Fundamental elements for the branding 2018 were taken from traditional textile patterns from different countries. These are mainly the countries from which the largest number of refugees come. Textile patterns were simplified and unified by hand-drawn style.
