My first impression of this fragrance was how feminine it was, immediately curved shapes and warm tones came to mind. There is a warmth and sweetness to the scent but it is supported by sophisticated floral tones. It is a fragrance that could be worn from day to evening.
When I began visualizing the woman who would wear this scent and where she would wear it to, I felt a sense of grandeur.
I chose the name “Sonnet” to reflect the fragrance’s romantic and lyrical tones.
During my design process I was influenced by Art Deco and the grand architecture of 1940’s films. I incorporated a spiral shape through out my bottle design, like a destructed scroll, to play off the name “Sonnet” and the literal act of writing a poem. I included gold foil on the bottom of the bottle to recreate the warm glow I imagined when I smelled the fragrance.
My goal was to design a unique bottle that felt approachable and sophisticated.
