For the style update, I wanted to get rid of the 90's style close-up statue photography and switch it with something that evoked a sense of reverence. The close-up photos bring up feelings of almost uncomfortable closeness, as if the reader's personal space is being invaded. So a simple switch of photography gives a sense of breathing room. I used my lettering skills to add more emphasis on these important scripture quotes.

The previous version did not have clear, easy to follow directions on the prayer structure each day, so I included a new section for that. Each day, the reader would start their prayer time with a series of traditional Catholic prayers, and incorporate a different scripture quote each day. It required a lot of flipping back and forth for the reader to remember what the next prayer or step was, disengaging them from the time of reflection. As a solution each two-page spread in the Daily Scripture section has a sidebar outlining each step of the Daily Structure.

The Companions of the Cross wanted this tool to be universally accessible for Catholics, whether they were new to the faith or have been Catholic since their childhood. To address that, a section was added in the beginning of the booklet called Searching For Something More. This section goes over the basic Gospel message (a.k.a. Kerygma) as a friendly introduction for new Catholics, or those that have little-to-no knowledge of the Catholic faith.
