Branding for Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS), an agency of the Scottish Government formerly known as Forestry Commission Scotland.
The challenge: To create an identity that would appeal to both the timber industry and a recreation audience. The solution: A symbol that unifies trees for timber, broadleaf trees and land, all flowing into a single stroke.
In April 2019, Forestry Commission Scotland ceased to exist. In its place, two new agencies were born; FLS and SF. These agencies needed a new visual identity that would indicate a fresh start while acknowledging their legacy.
Working with the in-house design team, my initial task was to bring fresh ideas as a recent graduate. As the project developed, I had the opportunity to craft the final logo and create the foundations of the visual identity.
Collateral materials are currently being developed by the in-house designers and will be rolled out gradually in the next couple of years.
