Bee Monastery is an environmental proposal which imagines a new order of people and places ingrained within the rich monastic traditions of Coventry. The honey bee farmed by the monasteries from the middle ages represents a deep grounding within the historical context of Coventry as well as a paradigm for regenerating the city’s spaces through an environmentally grafted approach. The project represents a notable opportunity to provide a dedicated communal solution for the future sustainable growth of the urban city in the midst of its under-celebrated historical assets; combining the loss and decay of Coventry’s historical heritage and the decline of the bee.
The image is a conceptual master-plan of a proposed design solution that has been created via a number of Adobe platforms including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. The detailed drawings and landscaping were hand drawn on illustrator using a tablet allowing an individual hand drawing style to be represented in a digital way. Photoshop allowed the whole master-plan to be come together, embellished with hatches and colour. InDesign was used as the main presentation stage. As an architectural student, Adobe Creative Cloud is fantastic for its multi-platform approach.
