V Kontakte is a Russian social media site. It currently has over 100 million users. The staff is young and they wanted more informal and less ‘traditional’ formal spaces. The design concept was ‘an industrial warehouse’. 
Some of the walls within the office were specified brick and in appearance similar to the external walls. The brick wall effect was exposed to achieve the industrial theme as well as to achieve a ‘kitch’ impression. The new premises are mainly open plan so detail to acoustics was critical to the success of the design. GI is an expert in designing silent open plan offices. 
Brightness was added to the dark interior with playful colors and features in furniture, textiles and manifestations. Also, reflective finishes; splashes of white on ceilings and walls have been added to achieve reflective light and brightness. To highlight the type of company - social media; abstract prints of peoples’ faces were added on manifestation. Each solution has been thought over in great detail and in line with the company’s image and brand.
