"Where's Your Wheelchair?"

An RSA Hidden Figures brief to create a solution to help people with hidden disabilities in some way.

From my research I found that a lot of disabled people struggle with people accusing them of faking their disability due to not ‘looking disabled’ enough. A lot of time the word ‘disabled’ is associated with people in wheelchairs but most diablilities aren’t visible. Education is the key to changing people’s perceptions, therefore, this campaign is to show that you can’t tell that someone has a disability by their looks.

“Where’s Your Wheelchair?” is a campaign of three sets of posters to raise awareness of hidden disabilities. The first of each set shows a person who appears non-disabled. The second reveals that they do in fact have a disability that you can’t see. This will cause the audience to realise that anyone around them could be disabled and therefore hopefully change their perception of what disability looks like.
