I think we spend our childhood and teen years inside of a bubble- a protective shell. It's not until we become adults that the shell cracks open and we realize just how massive the world truly is. At first it can feel like a vast cold vacuum- we are overwhelmed by the void. We fear we might be lost in it. Then, hopefully we realize that we are but blind newborns, just beginning to learn how to see.

“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird. It would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad!”
- C.S. Lewis
