Dragon Rouge: Sustainable Luxury- Bambino

This collaborative brief was to create a new product range for your brand that delivers luxury in an eco-friendly world. Non-wasteful and non-excessive, but still with a luxe feel.

‘Bambino’ was created in response to the current fast fashion industry, with the aim of making bamboo a current mainstream textile. Targeted towards babies and young children with mothers in mind, ‘Bambino’ encourages them to consider more sustainable fashion choices as their children grow. We created 100% recyclable ‘essentials box’, containing high quality, necessities made from bamboo fabric. We used a neutral colour scheme for a gender neutral and season-less approach and created patterns through mark making and lino printing for a distinctive brand mark. Developing a series of icons to educate the next generation about the benefits of bamboo for both babies and the environment.
The ‘essentials box’ uses minimal ink, featuring a simple, luxury design, using cut-outs in the shape of the bamboo icon. We printed a 100% kind to earth sticker to reiterate our promise of being eco-friendly towards our consumers.

The addition of a handle reduces the need for a plastic bag, whilst the interior wrap adds a luxurious touch and protects the clothing inside. The box displays the icons on both sides of the outer packaging which are later defined within the box. On the back we have included our brand story, allowing the consumer to understand our aims, what is included in the box and how to contribute to creating a kinder earth. Alongside this there is a short explanation about the ‘Reseeded’ scheme, which follows with a website to find out more.
Inside the ‘essentials box’, the high-quality baby clothing is wrapped sustainable wrapping. A booklet can be found, defining the icons on the box and the step by step explanation of Bambino’s ‘Reseeded’ scheme. Inside the lid is a fact about the fast fashion industry and all our social media pages, inviting the them to engage further with the brand online. A clothing tag gives parents an outline for the best way to care for your bamboo garment, helping the consumer carry on the greener lifestyle at home.
The ‘Reseeded’ scheme allows consumers to return their outgrown items to our in-store post box, and then receive the next size up for half the price, collecting points as they go on a loyalty card. The garments are recycled, re-used or re-worn, ensuring 0% waste ends up in landfills. The ‘Wear, Grow, Reseed’ actions have been created into icons for the consumer to get involved with.
Our hashtag, ‘#choosebamboo’, features on the box and creates a wider awareness of the brand, linking to a social media campaign and website. Our social media posts also engage with consumers, telling them about the problems currently faced in the fast fashion industry. GIFS have been used to reference the fast growth of healthy babies, using fast growing bamboo shoots.
Our website allows people to educate themselves before investing into Bambino. Each icon explains the reason behind them, whether beneficial to babies or the environment. Using images of bamboo origins resonates with the consumers, showing them the process of creating sustainable clothing. Our website gives the consumers an insight into the ‘Reseeded’ scheme and how it works in-store.
