The Wharton Center is Michigan State University and East Lansing's premier performing arts center, bringing in both large and small theater, music, and dance acts from around the world. The Center asked the AIGA East Lansing student group to design a system to be put into place on temporary walls while undergoing construction to refurbish both the interior and exterior of the building. A group of 4-5 students, along with a faculty advisor, developed this system by creating a design in Processing using 6 shapes and 9 spot colors. The design moves the eye through the large space, providing visual interest and helpful wayfinding in an otherwise unappealing interior. The system was in place for a little under a year at the Wharton Center.
