Spontaneous Effort
The purpose of this project was to take a random object and the text and make them relate to each other. I took photos of the lightbulb that utilized negative space and the interesting curves of the glass. I also took photos of the lightbulb broken and arranged in different ways. I put the photos in grayscale and used a bright yellow to contrast with the photos, but also relate back to the idea of a lightbulb. Throughout the book I created organic, flowing lines and that lead from page to page. These lines related back to the shape of the lightbulb and often mimicked the shape on the pages. The organic nature of the images and the lines in the book also relate back to the text and how it often references the art of music. The progression of the book shows an intact lightbulb and then a broken bulb. I wanted the broken bulb to be towards the end to represent the idea of spontaneity spoken about in the text.
