Self-identity Poster

The poster is inspired from the Surrealism movement, Surrealist and Neo-Surrealist artists; including Salvado Dali, Frida Kahlo, Erik Johansson, and Romain Laurent. The poster is a visual manifesto about my identity as a designer, expressing through the interaction and connection of my past, present, and future self.

The seamless background of the desert and the sky exposes the dreamland that is often seen in Surrealist artwork. The foreground image represents my past as a kid with lollipop and Totoro plush doll, my present self as a student in college, and my future self as a professional in the working environment. The past is embraced and kept inside the present, while the future reflects and encloses both the past and the present. As a designer, my identity with my past of being born and growing up in Vietnam has a strong impact not only on my design work but also on my present identity as a design student at SCAD. The poster depicts the transition from my current identity to my future identity with a touch of surrealism; express the concept that I can confront and completely open up to myself only in the dreamland.
