Character Busts: Hero and Sidekick
The two characters I chose to make are two of my idea of Angels. The hero character is a tribal looking Angel of Death named Morivex. The sidekick is the Angel of Ruin, a battle-scarred warrior and general named Lalik-Ra. Both characters are united against a common foes who threatens the universe but neither is any kind of paragon despite being an Angel. Morivex is reclusive and Lalik-Ra is arrogant but both characters are incredibly powerful beings who face equally powerful enemies.
I sketched out my ideas to solidify what kind of shapes the armour worn by Lalik-Ra would comprise of. I based their faces on classmates in cillege. I wanted to have very otherworldly shapes that are sharp, regal and aerodynamic in a way. Unfortunately, aluminium doesn't accept being shaped in such a way so I had to compromise and layer many small shaped pieces of aluminium cut from several cooking trays.
Using birds, games, armour and other things to inform the design and overall look and feel of the characters, I wanted to create characters that were obviously not human but above them in a way.
