Austin proved to be a great three days. After the first day of a sweep across the city center and enjoying the angles and light of the buildings, on day two, I went more for the people. Mostly my colleagues who were happy to pose for portraits as I tested out my Canon 100m macro (on an 80D cropped sensor), which takes fantastic portraits. Well, you can decide about the fantastic part!
Along the Colorado River
My colleague, great light here for clear blue eyes. Straight out of the camera this one, no lightroom or photoshop.
Bicycle taxi driver, under the artificial street light
My colleague in the low evening sun. I could probably work this a bit with lightroom to even out the light.
A lady waiting to cross the road.
After Austin, I thought if I went pro, I would specialize in construction photography!
100mm lens on a cropped sensor is equivalent to 160mm on a full frame. The zoom is more than I have ever used, and the lens quality really high, I could actually crop these characters even more and still have great detail but I enjoyed the scope that the miniature people brought to the picture.
Portrait of a parking attendant
Probably my favorite shot of the trip. I love how the light reflected up, there must have been big steel plates on the floors or something like that. Tapping my construction theme here.
Austin is famous for its music, and this is a serious street performer setup.
Self portrait, trekking the streets in comfort.
