“Good Warming Everyone"
Most people neglect the issue of global warming since it doesn’t happen overnight and is subtle, so people don’t notice it. People wake up every day and get on with their day unaware of what is really happening to the earth, we think everything is fine every morning we get up to start the day, but the earth is getting warmer and there are devastating effects.
This poster is a sarcastic take on the issue of global warming and is designed to visually provoke the audience to become more aware of the effects of global warming.
"Good Warming Everyone" Final Poster Design
The first half of the poster visually illustrates the “good morning” aspect of the poster, the sun is rising, but it is red and hot, the sky and the city is warming up. It also
communicates the idea that we are just living on top of an iceberg; on the surface
everything is fine, but it can easily sink as the bottom of the iceberg is melting due to
global warming, yet we don’t see this, and we neglect it until the iceberg tips and start to
sink.
In the middle of the poster, below the heading, it says “What’s cooking for breakfast”
which alludes to the illustrations on the bottom of the poster and also the text below it.
The text below is arranged in 3 days and describes 3 events; the events are sarcastic
fictional events that describe how “fun” it would be if events like natural disasters,
flooding/rising sea levels and burning fossil fuels would be. In this way, the poster grabs the attention of the audience in an unconventional way and provokes them to think about
what the poster actually means and reflect on how these events would make them feel.
The bottom of the poster displays a family, getting for breakfast in the morning and
watching their breakfast eggs fry in the pan. The family is illustrated as these “happy
and smiling” skulls which communicates the message that people are not aware that we are slowly killing ourselves by not doing much to prevent global warming.
The egg in the frying pan portrays a visual imagery that the earth is warming and frying like an egg, and the ones who are frying the earth are people who are oblivious to global warming and neglect this issue.
