Family Crest Project - Langland Family

Family Crest Project: Langland Family
For my crest I decided to stick to the basic things within my family that a majority of our family have participated in, for example, participating in the military and doing service has been a common thing within my over the generations. I decided I wanted these kinds of occurrences to be represented through the crest.

Iterations
I decided on the 4th design because i felt it had all the right features to symbolize my family.
Critique
From my peers who reviewed my work, I was advised to redo the laurels on the sides of the crest because they looked unnatural, I was also told that not having a fill on some portions of the crest and having a fill on others didn't work well and so I resolved that. I was told that my design needed some more color to the icons as well so I decided to fill them with a gradient. I fixed the arc that the laurels used to fit better.
Final
Though the design is quite simple compared to others, i believe it brings my family's history to life in a symbolic way. First, Most of my color I chose were the ones used as Australian National Colors, Second, the cross in the middle symbolizes the long faith for christianity. Third, each little icon has its own meaning the dog, being our three dogs, the bird being the air force, the cross being the medical department, and the plane being that we love to travel. The crest itself also has a symbolic meaning, the 3 points on the top are the 3 children that my family have had.
