Identity and Branding - Personal Work

As part of one of our modules we've been asked to produce three promotional items, preferably things that can be mass produced and posted. These will be used to promote ourselves; I've wanted to set up my own identity for possibly the past two years and never been very successful. I'm hoping that this little project will help me to finally overcome this!

The only thing I've ever felt comfortable with doing is business cards and maybe post cards. I knew that I wanted to put my work on such things but I didn't know what work to choose. So I thought about where I see myself in the future:

- Children's publishing
- Character/concept design in TV, Film or Video Games.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot yet for Children's publishing that I'd be happy to use as promotional pieces so I went with work relating to the latter. Here are the pieces I chose:
These are probably my favourite pieces of work at the moment (I don't say that lightly) so I am more than happy to use them.

I only want to use these on the back, on the front I want to use step by step images similar to that I did for my Kinky Boots project.
I think out of these four, I prefer the black and white ones. The only thing that really bothers me is the "Allonsy Hellonsy"; I want this to be my, stamp? I don't know if that's right, but what my works associated with, it may change later but for now I like it. Going with the stamp idea, I decided I wanted the text to fit in a circle.
I made a couple of sketches and I decided to develop the second one. I scanned it in and opened it up in Illustrator. Me and Illustrator don't always get on so I began by "live tracing" what I'd scanned in and see what effect this gave me.
I really liked the effect and texture live tracing gave my logo design, however once it was added to the card, I still felt it wasn't right. I think if reused and resized then it'd be difficult to distinguish what is being said so I decided to vector it instead.
I believe this will be the final design for my logo/stamp. I'll probably come back to it later and make more alterations, but I'm really pleased with it for now.
These are the front and back of my final designs for my own promotional cards. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, considering I've treated this a bit like a one day brief. I can't wait to come back to this and create more with future pieces of work.
