Esta tese de mestrado focou-se no design das capas de livro e teve como estudo de caso o livro 1984 de George Orwell. O trabalho encontra-se dividido em três grandes partes – contextualização, estudo de caso e análise prática, cada um dividido em temas mais específicos.
Procurou-se recolher todas as capas criadas para a obra tendo-se conseguido recolher 428. Estas foram analisadas
de diferentes modos como focando na tipografia do título, hierarquia entre autor e titulo, a cor e nos temas e símbolos mais e menos presentes.
This masters thesis focused on book cover design and had George Orwell's 1984 as it's case study. The work is
divided in three main stages – contextualization, case study and practical analysis, each one of them divided in
more specific themes.
The work tried to gather all covers created for this novel ending up with 428 of them. These covers were analyzed
using different methods such as focusing on the title's typography, the hierarchy between the author and title, color
and the themes and symbols most and least present.
