Photographic Symbols: Book Cover

Photographic Symbol: Book Cover
I was asked to create a photographic symbol without knowing exactly what we would be using it for. In the end we had to match up a classic novel or play with one of the images that I took and create a book cover.

I took tons of photos, and then I picked a few of my best ones and ran a survey asking three questions. 1. What does it symbolize? 2. What mood does it bring when you look at it? and 3. What classic book or play does it remind you of?  Going off of information I gained from the survey as well as my own knowledge and instinct I chose photo that I thought would look good as a cover.

This is a photo of a glass of water colored green, and the sunlight through the glass created this cool beam of light. I cropped it down, and tried it coming from different directions, but finally settled on one. I chose to use this photo because it reminded me of the Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.

A few of the book cover options that I came up with.
