Photos from Velachery, Dhandeeswaram, and Tansi Nagar in Chennai at blue hour. I was able to call this neighbourhood home for the past 10 months and getting to know it was an experience like no other I have had before.

For much of my time in Chennai, the sign for the New Andhra Meals Hotel in Tansi Nagar cast a reddish-pink glow on every house on 4th Street. It did so every single night, but was easy enough to forget once you got used to it.
In my eighth month in the city, after a short trip to Delhi, I noticed that the sign wasn't coming on like it had every other evening. 4th Street was cast in the pallor of
much-abused fluorescent street lighting rather than the usual exuberant red-pink that I was used to seeing. This has not changed since. The sign barely comes back on anymore, and I have no answers for why wine-coloured views from my window are not an every day sight.

Perhaps I will walk in to the Hotel and ask them what happened someday.
So far though, I've never been there.
