During my undergraduate degree in Shenzhen University, I joined the school radio station and worked there for four years. In those four years, I served as group leader, the head of publicity department and vice president.
In 2016, as the head of publicity department, I developed a brand design for the radio station, which included a campaign video, street interview program, poster design and some new radio jingles. The brand I shaped is "Come as U are | Be who U are", aiming to create a place that is open to diversity and make everyone feel comfortable for being themselves in the radio station.
In this campaign video, we capture five different students from the school: one journalist, one fashion lover, one sport guy, one music fan and one artistic girl. At the end of the video, all of them come to Shenzhen University Radio Station, meaning the diversity of our radio station.
For the poster design, we have a photoshoot session with the DJs solely and duo for the program. Each poster include the DJ's motto or saw, showing the different personalities of our DJs.
Viewpoints of Shenzhen University is an original street interview video program by our radio station. During the 2016 freshman orientation, we adopted a new form for this special episode. We prepared four different questions for the students: "What do you expect most from your college life?"/"Which part of your body are you most satisfied with?"/"Describe Shenzhen University in your dialect."/"Tell us about an interesting thing about yourself."
We let the interviewee answer the question the former student leave for him/her and also ask him/her to choose one for the next student.
For the last response, we asked one of our DJ to answer the question "What do you expect most from your college life?" And the answer is to join the Shenzhen University Radio Station, which leads to the recruitment information.
A vocal map was also made by me and three other members during this project. I was in charge of program designing while they took care of vocal recording and drawing.
The vocal map is based on HTML5 and distributed through our social media. People can access it by scanning the QR on their phone. Basically, if they tap the name card of the school building, a description track will be played along with the background music.
Besides activities on campus, we also had a few partnerships with local events. For example, we did an interview with the founder of Electric Jungle Music Festival, one of the biggest EDM festival in China. In return, they offered us some tickets for raffle, which improve the engagement with our listeners.
Song request is one of the important part of school radio station in China. Basically, people call in or leave their requests on our social media. And we choose some of them to play during our airtime.
