Out of the Dark Typefaces presents custom typeface Ausano Bold for Amaro Ramazzotti
Ausano Bold serves both as logotype and display typeface throughout Amaro Ramazzotti’s redesign by Landor Milan. Lettering found in Ramazzotti advertisement posters from around 1950 builds the starting point for a strong and modern typeface.
The vertical endings of C/G/J/S/a/c/e f/g/j/s/t are crucial for the design of the typeface and its geometric but friendly approach. The vertical endings and its space-saving dimensions allows it to be set very tight, which makes it a welcome aid in advertising matter and posters. On the whole the design is extremely robust and expressive without loosing its vivid and timeless feel. Characteristics of the lower case are a large x-height and relatively short descenders. Despite the compact design, the counters are open enough to support good readability.
