This interactive piece is inspired by the ideas behind flora and fauna and their form and function. I explored the concepts of growth and transformation through creating a piece that is time based and can change through a time span. This piece is composed of three main layers of cut out paper. It can be seen as three separate pieces or layered on top of each other to create one single work. As an interactive piece, the layers can be rotated by the viewer to see patterns interacting, morphing, and transforming. This feature will allow the viewer to witness different stages of an organism’s formation, and also experience the phenomenon of its transformation. To enhance the experience, the layers can also be expanded like an accordion to get a deeper view of the structure.
