Les Jardins de la Reine
Font created on the second year of university, with the professor Naotake Fukushima

Creating a font is a big challenge. Typography is sometimes just a detail, but always essential to the layout. There are several different typefaces, each one with a purpose.
In this project, the main goal was to begin to familiarize with the softwares and the creation of a font - and I saw this as a big opportunity for me to learn more about one of my passions.
The first step was to choose an inspiration to create the font. I chose the Palace of Versailles and its gardens, famous for the geometric and natural forms. To help, two inspiration boards were created: one with photos of the place and other with graphics and similar fonts. Criar uma fonte é um desafio muito grande. Tipografia é as vezes apenas um detalhe, mas sempre essencial para o layout. Há vários tipos de fontes, cada uma com um propósito.
Nesse projeto, o principal objetivo era começar a se familiarizar com os softwares e a criação de uma fonte - e vi isso como uma oportunidade para aprender mais sobre uma das áreas que me interesso.
O primeiro passo era escolher uma inspiração para criar a fonte. Eu escolhi o Castelo de Versailles e seus jardins, famosos pelas formas geométricas e naturais. Para ajudar, dois painéis semânticos foram criados: um com fotos do lugar e outro com grafismos e fontes similares.
Inspiration Boards
After that, I started the drawing on the tracing paper, based on the “Breathe” font. The idea was to create a capitular font. When all the alphabet was made, it was vectorized in the Adobe Illustrator.
Depois disso, comecei a desenhar as fontes no papel sulfurizê, baseada na fonte "Breathe". A ideia era criar uma fonte capitular. Quando todo o alfabeto foi desenhado, passei para vetor no Adobe Illustrator.
Final Results:
This was the final result. On the future, I plan to create the lowercases of the font.
The name “Les Jardins de la Reine” (The Queen’s Gardens) is a tribute to the Queen Marie Antoinette, who lived in the castle for a while, and to the beautiful gardens of Versailles.
The inspirations became forms in the font, as it is possible to see above:
1. It represents the water of the garden fountains
2. Lines represents the geometric forms of the garden
3. Sinuous curves represents the mazes and forms of the garden.
Esse foi o resultado final. No futuro, pretendo criar as minúsculas da fonte.
O nome "Les Jardins de la Reine" (Os Jardins da Rainha) é um tributo à Rainha Maria Antonieta, que viveu uma época no castelo, a aos maravilhosos jardins de Versailles.
As inspirações se tornaram formas na fonte, como é possível ver acima:
1. Representa a água dos chafarizes do jardim
2. As linhas representam as formas geométricas
3. As curvas sinuosas representam os labirintos e formas do jardim
