In a first collaboration with an apparel decoration business on another Continent, the British company Xamax Clothing Co., has enlisted my help in automating a redundant, yet very specific work process which is necessary for their everyday operations.
The resulting script and smart-template system saves the creative professionals at Xamax time by automatically generating artwork specs such as colors and size dimensions, providing a flexible UI Window and saving a secured document. The custom made-to-order functions do many things one may find tedious, such as coloring swatch boxes, conditionally substituting colors, creating a text box from color names and coloring each one with respective color, opening a save dialog into a pre-defined destination, scaling and duplicating graphics and deploying registration marks in locations according to company production rules.
Aside from the scripted tool, the proprietary Xamax templates were analyzed and rebuilt to work with the script and add to the efficiency and ease of use for the company.
