RESEARCH

Within the brief, we are asked to produce four sets of black and white photographs for the front cover of Mono magazine. Mono is said to be an art, design and fashion mag similar to ID and Monocle.

Monocle Magazine

Launching in 2007, Monocle magazine provides a brief view over business, culture an design. It is published 10 times a year creating a luxury magazine for its readers and subscribers.

ID Magazine

Launching in 1980 ID is a bimonthly magazine that specialise in fashion and and culture. It presents a unique way of displaying photographs using typographing and editing techniques.
Johnny Stilletto

Mostly known for his street photography and the intimate shots of the public, I thought that his photographs would work well within this brief.
Alexander Rodchenko

I was inspired my rodchenkos work as it displayed strong geometric lines that could work well within the brief.
SHOOT PLAN

In this shoot I am planning to take photos of bit of everything and keeping an open mind, as in the brief it says the magazine contents are architecture fashion and economics. I decided to do with the location of canary wharf.

Location : Canary Wharf
Model: Malik
Equipment: canon 600d, 50mm lens
EDITING

When editing the photos I organised the photographs into what would suit best as a front cover of a magazine and what would catch the reader attention.
The brief states that the final images have to be in black and white. Using the tools on capture one and adjusting photograph using the levels and curve tool these were the final image that I had come up with.

SECOND SHOOT PLAN

When going to canary wharf on the first shoot, I noticed that there are many pieces of art surrounding the area

Location: canary wharf
Model : n/a
Equipment: canon 600d , 50mm lens
EDITS

After organising and editing down the files and turning them into black and white.

TEMPLATES
I decided to use image from the first shoot and three from the second and placed with on the template to experiment. On each photograph being placed I had to think about what colour the typographing was going to be, either white or black.
When placing the images, I decided to flip the image so it would fit better in the frame
FINAL IMAGES USED
After experimenting with photos these were the final images I was happy with.

EVALUATION

Overall I think that this shoot had been successful it got me to look and a location much more closer to detail. When placing the images on the template I could have rejusted the colours slightly however I am happy with how the magazine front cover came out. For next, I think I could have gone to a different location and tried to test out what could have worked there instead of just being in canary wharf.
