Mayan Street Food Truck

Mayan Street Food

When restauranteurs Anne and Bruce of the Mayan Cafe wanted to expand their business to a food truck, it became clear that the design needed to embody and carry through the story of Mayan cuisine.

Earthy colors from Mayan pottery and hieroglyphs from ancient codas were chosen and styled for their meaning of celebration and imbibing. Chef Bruce’s tattoo of the Mayan God of Food and Agriculture was used as inspiration in creating the truck’s ‘hero’ character.
The overall effect is that of an energetic, but stylistically accurate portrayal of the food’s origin, life and story. The food truck lives in a semi-permanent location at the Gravely Brewing venue where patrons can enjoy locally brewed beers with their food.

This project won a 2017 AIGA design award.
