Economio

When we were approached by Economio about designing and branding a new board game about personal finance for teenagers—aimed at families and classrooms—we identified two key areas of focus: Balancing form and function. We needed to ensure the tone of voice, brand, and visual language appealed to the target audiences. But most importantly, we needed to make sure the game was pedagogic, intuitive, and educational, yet still ridiculously fun to play.

So we decided to turn the process on its head, allowing a focus group of teens to get hands on and help define the brand—from the visual identity and packaging, down to tone of voice and the game’s slogan. We even let snapchat followers choose the final cover.

In the end we developed a concept that connected the value of money to something kids found relatable. Things they’re interested in and spend their money on!
