Design Core considered various factors including the helicopter’s body, the purpose it was designed for, and the kind of climatic conditions it was to operate in. The core design concept was the peacock - India’s national bird - portrayed in a manner that covered the aircraft’s body elegantly. This concept suited the civilian aspect of the aircraft’s use, its aerial role, and its Indian identity.
