BRIT PULP
Movie Festival Poster
This was a poster I created as a working example, in conjunction with a project assigned to my graphic design students. The project focused on poster design, and utilizing the larger format to be visually engaging, yet still present the information in an organized manner. Objectives included incorporating design principles, recently presented to students in a series of lectures. The name "BRIT PULP" was a play on the 1990s British popular music genre known as “BRIT POP,” combined with the word "PULP" — in reference to the literature genre of fiction, synonymous with pulp magazines and hard-boiled crime novels, known for their graphic violence and dialogue.  This was introduced to the mainstream with the 1994 Quentin Tarantino movie, Pulp Fiction.

My goal was to have the design elements work together to convey a sense of grittiness... roughen up textures, out of registration print and jumbled typography.  Additionally, I wanted the bold colors of the Union Jack flag to be a striking focal point.
