Teapot Origami
Bespoke origami instruction design, hand sewn booklet and origami workshop.
Thanks to the amazing sponsor who collaborated on the projects I had the opportunity to carry out an origami workshop hosted by Design Manchester in the beautiful engine hall of the People’s History Museum. After designing the bespoke origami instructions to build a teapot simply by folding paper, I created also designed a bespoke teapot origami logo which was used for the workshop and merch. The logo was also laser cut into wooden stamps and used to decorate the cover of a series of three hand sewn booklet. For the origami paper I designed pattern inspired by the traditional Japanese symbol of hot water. To complement the set I designed an instruction poster which was produced using gold and royal blue inks through riso graphic technique.
We used examples of this traditional Japanese craft to effectively promote the Origami workshop. Studio Printmysoul designed a bespoke origami fold instruction booklet that enabled participants to create a lovely teapot. The instructions were designed bearing in mind the young and adult visitors to the event.
We let the art speak for itself in promoting the workshop which teaches participants the ancient Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures.
