WORKSPACE PROJECT
Purify, a future proofing space for the office that incorporates health and wellbeing, targeted at Engineers and Architects. It’s a unique design that puts the health of the office worker to the forefront. This smart desk will allows you to monitor and control the space around you through an embedded tablet. The aim is to encourage workers to sit/ stand at the office. It will allow the workers to control the office around them to suit their health needs. After visiting various architecture and engineer workspaces and interviewing the workers, we observed that a lot of the problems that these workers encountered orientated around light, air quality, lack of movement and interaction. From this research, we decided to create a high tech piece of furniture which focus on health, wellbeing and interaction in an engineer and architecture workspace.
Our integrated air purifier will heat and cool the workers while also removing harmful pollutants from the air. This is a slim beam that is situated at the back of the desk so that it purifies the whole work area. The light that we designed is an adjustable task light, powered using LED with CRI (80) rendering. This has a colour temperature of 3000K-3500K as this reduces workers glare. It has a thin streamline design that fits into the modern office space. It also has the capability to incorporate Lifi so that the worker can have a faster connectivity while working online. Our rotating task desk will allow workers to interact with each-other and work on an A1 size adjustable desk with their colleagues. This task desk can be controlled through the use of the embedded tablet to smoothly open it out when being used. Workers can sit as well as stand at this desk by controlling it using the tablet. The tablet will monitor how often a worker has been sitting or standing that day and will encourage them to improve their health at the workspace by moving around more. This modern design will be manufactured using a sleek Ash wood for the desk and aluminum for the adjustable legs of the table.
