Let me start by saying I'm one of "those" Jim James fans. Jim just release his debut solo album "Regions of Light and Sound of God" (inspired by the woodcut novel, "Gods' Man" by Lynd Ward) and the tour for this album is pretty much sold out. That being said, I was hunting on craiglist for tickets to a DC or Philly show. I emailed 3 different people, 2 from whom I never heard back from. The third still had tickets to the show at the 9:30 club in DC. Apparently he clicked on the link to my behance portfolio in my email signature and enjoyed some of what he saw. He offered the tickets in exchange for a piece of art (what better way to acquire tickets to see this show!). While I didn't have much in my inventory that I was ready to part with, I offered to paint him a portrait. His sister, who lives in Africa, just had a baby and is visiting the states soon so he asked for a portrait of his niece.

And that, my friends, is how I got Jim James tickets for "face value". corny, but that's how I roll.

* I painted 2 versions in case they had a preference.
