NOVEMBER 9TH 2016

Having experienced Brexit in the UK in the summer of 2016, I left the UK for the US to begin an exchange year during my Bachelor’s degree. Only a few months later, I found myself in a country where a man with outlandish remarks on freedom, gender equality and immigration was elected the president. Once again I felt deeply troubled by the rising nationalism worldwide and created the video project November 9th 2016, the title of which is also the date of the day after the US presidential election, to express my views on this word changing event.
In the project I experimented with sound effects such as gun shots and police siren to create tensions and chaos to provoke a sense of unease. I also used fog as a visual representation for the uncertainty of the future of the United States and the world in this project.
