Flashback 80s vient d’une expérimentation graphique : comment traiter/reconsidérer le travail graphique effectué autour d’un objet musical, s’en emparer, et le re-déployer en mouvement ?
La première étape a été de sélectionner un son, j’ai choisi Western Funk de TEPR.
Après avoir plusieurs écoutes je me suis laissée inspirer par le côté dynamique, rythmique des années 1980.
J’ai ensuite récolté des échantillons de vidéos de Rosie Perez danseuse dans l’émission américaine Soul Train.
Ces deux éléments allaient parfaitement coïncider : les mouvements de Rosie Perez étaient en adéquation avec le rythme de la musique choisie.
Le rythme non seulement soutient l’image mais s’intègre à elle par un jeu de répétition dans une fusion ludique et singulière.

Diffusé en avant première à la Maison Européenne de la Photographie à Paris le 9 novembre 2015, puis dans le cadre de la FIAC à Paris et sur ARTE Creative.

Flashback 80s comes from a graphical experiment: How reconsider the graphic work emanating from a musical object, grab it, and then re-deploy it in motion?
The first step was to select a sound. I chose ‘Western Funk’ by TEPR. After listening to the song several times, I got inspired by the dynamic, rhythmic side of the 1980’s. I then collected video samples of dancer Rosie Perez on the American show Soul Train. The two elements coincide perfectly: Rosie Perez's movements are in line with the rhythm of the music. The rhythm not only speaks to the image in motion but blends in in a playful and singular fashion through repetition games.
