This custom poplar bench was created with 1-1/2" poplar bards connected with mortise and tenon joints and reinforced with a 3 inch stretcher.  The boards were stained using a two part water based stain.  The first stain is green which helps the second coat look more like a dark cherry wood stain.  The bench is 6' in length and can easily hold 4 adults without any sag.
