Safety Procedures Mobile Site

THE PROBLEM:
The safety procedures had been collected as hard copies in binders at each property. If an incident happened, staff had to go to the office to find the binder in order to follow the relevant procedure. The binders also had to be updated by hand — printing out new procedures and policies to replace old ones. If property staff fell behind on updating their binders, they would have only out-of-date policies on hand.
OUR SOLUTION:
We built a mobile site as a quick-reference guide of safety procedures.
• Expanded access — any staff member could access the procedures at the location of the incident, saving time and enabling more people to respond.
• Streamlined updates — the mobile site would be updated centrally, ensuring all properties had the same, up-to-date policies and information.
• Quick access to emergency contacts — each procedure page contains contact buttons to call or email the appropriate Young Life department (i.e., legal concerns to the Legal Department, injuries to Risk Management, etc.) directly from the site.
• Seamless connection to online forms — procedures that require documentation or other forms link directly to those materials.
SIMPLE NAVIGATION AND STRUCTURE:
We kept the site structure simple to ensure ease of use — as a resource for emergency situations, it will most often be accessed when users are under stress.
The landing page is a menu of nine main categories of emergency situations, like “Accidents and Injuries” and “Property Damage.” Each category leads to a submenu of specific scenarios, which in turn open the relevant procedure.
