Alternative film/video festival 2017

Alternative Film/Video Belgrade (Serbia) is an international festival for new film and video tendencies and one of the oldest manifestations of its kind in Europe. It was founded in 1982 by Miodrag Miloševic and organized by Academic Film Center in “Student’s city” Cultural Center, as an antidote to commercial film and video-making, aiming to document and define in theory the trends, to point at the values and new creative possibilities in the fields of alternative film and video and to support unconventional practices while celebrating moving image cultures.

The theme of 2017 edition - An Alternative Film as Subversive Art - is an opportunity to review and revalue films that, with their aesthetics and content, destroyed the established film, social and political codes that were created mainly by cinema clubs or independently, beyond the restrictive and controlled professional production.

Concept for festival newspaper was to create something provocative and innovative, with a touch of punk artwork seen in 80' UK fanzines and album covers…The usage of letters cut out from newspapers and magazines, collages made of photocopied images, titles made of various retro fonts, scotch tape all around.
