Violins of Hope, Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage

Beachwood, OH
Interpretive and Experience Design

Violins of Hope is an exhibition that showcased a series of violins that were rescued from the horrors of the Holocaust and lovingly restored to stand witness to the musicians who once played them. The exhibition was designed to give voice to the story of each musician. Through deeply emotional theater treatments visitors learned the history of the musicians and their violins. After viewing the instruments visitors left the exhibition with a deep understanding of the relationship of the individual musicians to their violins as the Holocaust unfolded.
