Archipelago Urbano is a urban renovation project, a collaboration between the City of Milan, MM - Metro Milanaese, Municipio 2 and NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, on the occasion of the Global Days of Service, an initiative of Laureate International Universities to encourage their Universities to develop activities that really affect their respective communities. In the courtyards of the housing complex of via Palmanova 59, via Tarabella 4 and via Cesana 3, new forms of socialization and urban regeneration have been experienced thanks to the collaboration of students, teachers and locals.

The design process lasted about four months and ended with an intense week of work in place for the realization of the “mobile islands”: blue and green curved shapes benches, equipped with wheels to be moved as desired. Next to them, there are street lamps, plants and trees (dwarf palms, fir trees, petioles and hollyhocks) and the “movie sail” to be used for movie projections.
The workshop ended with a shared lunch and a great opening party with all the students and the residents.
