PEER 2 PEER CITY: use the city as Web 2.0

nAutreVille is an urban program with several devices, to further the communication and the exchanges between the city-dwellers.
The aim of the project is to allow citizens to use urban new technology (public WiFi, communicating boards, etc.) in a useful and easy way.

3 elements are part of the service : nAutre Boite (public dropboxes), nAutre Lieu (interactive info point) and nAutre Lien (the public bus network allowing datas to circulate).

The nAutre Boite and the nAutre Lieu portals are not connected together.
The datas they contain are ultralocal and do not flow automatically from one portal to the others. So they become an identity picture of the different local areas.
People and their activity create the network and spread the datas throughout the city.
// PUBLIC DROPBOXES,
LOCAL EXCHANGES BETWEEN CITY-DWELLERS

nAutre Boite is a space of collective storage (public hard disk), acting as a common digital letterbox. It is a kind of collective dropbox.
It can contain varied digital files, such as videos, electronic newspapers, photos, music, videogames, etc.
Citizens leave and get the digital files from nAutreBoite using their mobile phone, only when they are in front of it.
• the mobile phone reveals the content of the public DropBox. User can then drag and take datas (files, infos, ads, event posts) in his phone.
// LOCAL LIFE INFORMATION, COLLECTIVE INTERACTIVE DISPLAY
nAutre Lieu is a touch-screen information display for the neighbourhood life.
On it, city-dwellers can find local present and forthcoming events and neighbourhood daily information.
As the user turns it around 360°, nAutreLieu acts as a scanner, overlaying information on the city landscape and showing the activities of the people living here.
// NETWORK ALL OVER THE CITY
The network is made by, on the one hand, nAutre Lien, which is a mobile portal placed in the city buses.
nAutreLien takes automatically and randomly the files from one nAutre Boite, one nAutre Lieu and one other nAutreLien, when it is close to it.
When they are in the bus, the citizens pick, send and exchange items. Consequently, the files contained in the different nAutreLien change as the bus goes on.
// NAUTRE VILLE: CITY-DWELLERS ARE THE VITAL PART OF THE URBAN PROGRAM
And moreover, the users create the network between all the portals, by uploading-downloading files with their mobile phone and spread them from one city area to the other.
