"She left me alone again..."

“She left me alone again...”

She left me alone again...
And how I thought I was her lover,
Worked hard and scorched my skin,
Yet she left me for another;
Watched her leave under the sun,
Taking with her our only son.

Perceive the tears that must expire,
As dry leaves fall on my head,
“You are the one I most admire,”
This to me she often said;
“Fear not, my love is safe,”
How can women lie to your face?

Her skin was warm, her lips were soft,
Like the petals of most flowers,
Her heart was cold, all to the touch,
As the sun died with the hours;
Across a pale bright moon I saw,
Ravens flying all through the fall.

I loaded my gun with silver bullets,
Brought a map to where she went,
Across a lake, read Shakespeare The Sonnets,
All my money so lavishly spent;
I saw her man, his back to me,
The silhouette of his shadow, my destiny.

Is there in pity, no more beauty?
Day to day I surely wonder,
For the skies now are pale and glumly,
And they itch with eerie thunder;
Am I about to make a mistake?
No! My whole pride is surely at stake.

And so I pull, the trigger of desire,
For vengeance is a sin of lust,
His head explodes, although like fire,
His death was slow, this I trust;
“You killed my man, my only lover!
The father of your son, YOUR BROTHER!”

And so I cried, with humble scorn,
As they take my son away,
A foster home he will adorn,
'Cause she lost her mind they say;
I live now with my pride,
Until in this cell I die.

“We all make mistakes because we cannot dictate what goes in our hearts,
But true men are those who sacrifice their lives to their children,
And tis it's best to swallow thy pride,
So as not to endanger a child's life,
For they are the future.
Men, think always of the children.”
