The IMDb started as a hobby project by an international group of movie fans, essentially something by movie fans for movie fans. Now it is a huge collection of movie information. IMDb tries to catalog every pertinent detail about a movie, from who was in it, to who made it, to trivia about it, to filming locations and even where you can find reviews and fan sites on the web. Their energy is focused on creating a database that is easy to search and use.
IMDb had created apps for other mobile devices, but they needed to find someone who could translate this vast database into a mobile environment for Windows Phone7 - and take content that is traditionally straight from the database and make it visually interesting.
